Being the “best you can be” is really only possible when you are deeply connected to another. Splendid isolation is for planets, not people.

Clinical Director

Hi there, I’m Kara Fairchild (Pronouns: She/Her/Hers) and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and the Clinical Director for Well Life.  I recognize that life is full of inevitable change, within ourselves and our lives. It can be difficult to know how to adapt when change comes, particularly when things like anxiety, depression, or low self-worth get in our way.  I believe, however, that growing and healing come from being in a relationship with one another, and fostering a positive relationship with oneself. I see the value and importance of having a secure attachment to our loved ones, where partners and family members can rely on one another physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally.

I have experience working with clients who have a myriad of struggles, including depression, anxiety, grief and bereavement, chronic pain/illness, difficult life transitions, and relationship concerns. I am honored and grateful to have a chance to positively impact the East Berlin community and surrounding areas.

I earned my MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from Seton Hill University. Prior to that I grew my love for psychology and helping others while attending Elmira College earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in human services. I am trained as an Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist and I am currently an AAMFT Approved Supervisor Candidate, as well as a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).  I have had the privilege of working with individuals ranging from the age of 4 to 78 in various settings, including outpatient centers, partial hospitalization programs and mobile therapy in homes and in schools. In these different settings, I had an opportunity to work with individuals, couples, groups, and families from various cultural, economic, and religious backgrounds.

Kara participates with Aetna, Anthem, Cigna/Evernorth, and Husky plans.

Kara is currently unable to accept new clients.

Relationship Dance Choreographer

Even the best of relationships can get stuck in undesirable and draining patterns or cycles. In our work together, I will offer the support and tools to increase your awareness of what is getting you stuck, being with you each step of the way as you choose to work toward getting unstuck and finding a new sense of improved connection and fulfillment in your relationship(s).

Life Travel Guide

You pick the destinations, together we work to get you there. It is my goal to help individuals to develop the best versions of themselves, so that they can be the best partners, parents, family members, friends, employees or students that they can be. No one can be their best self all the time, but together we can help you to be your best self more often throughout your life journey.

A Little More About Me

I’m very passionate about my work as a marriage and family therapist, or systems therapist.  When I’m out of the office though, I love spending time with family and friends. I’m a huge animal lover, particularly dogs, cats and horses.  My fur-babies at home are my dog, Barkley (A handsome Pit-mix), and my kitty, Sicily, or Sissy as we call her (a spirited Russian Blue mix). I love traveling, hiking, reading, watching movies and binge-watching a good Netflix show.  Additionally, I enjoy spending time adjunct teaching, sharing knowledge and teaching skills to the next generation of therapists in a local Marriage and Family Therapy program.
