Assessments and Letters of Support for Gender-Affirming Medical Treatment

Well Life Therapy, LLC now provides assessments and letters for gender-affirming surgical procedures and hormone replacement therapy. We see letter writing as formal documentation of a conversation and a process that requires clinical skill and cultural responsivity on the part of the clinician.

Transgender and gender-nonconforming people should have access to medical interventions to help them live happily and wholly in their bodies and lives. Clinical experience, research, and personal experience have shown us that transgender and gender nonconforming people supported by their affirmed (i.e., self-identified) gender have increased physical, emotional, and psychological well-being. Transgender and gender nonconforming people should also have access to information, education, and guidance from health care providers so that they feel empowered and supported in navigating interactions with medical providers and systems.

As trans-competent therapists, Jessica Maroun, LPC, Reyna Zascirinskis, LPC, ATR-P, and Dakota Summer, MFTA have been trained in writing letters of support for surgical procedures and cross-hormone treatment. Jessica, Reyna, and Dakota all use the Gender ASSET Assessment and the WPATH Standards of Care as a guide. As firm believers in client-centered care, assessments and letters of support are a stand-alone service, meaning that you can schedule sessions with these clinicians just for an assessment rather than ongoing therapy. They do not require a set number of sessions before a letter is written. Insurance can be utilized for these sessions or individuals can self-pay at $165 per session.
